How Sailing & Drawing has been So Much a Part of My Life

 Copywrite 1-27-14 by Albion Derbyshire

Skipper Albie: "I was captivated by the water, the wind and the sky." The ocean has fascinated me since I was young. Drawing tall ships in elementary school was encouraged further after having visited the HMS Victory in Plymouth, England and the Cutty Sark in Greenwhich London. Later, I found the joy of sailing and when I wasn't able to actually be on the water I started drawing it!

Come see my other sailing art pictures and let me know what you think! The address is: http://albiesart.blogspot.com

Do You Like What You Do?

You know, making money is fine and necessary, but here's a question that is important too: Do you like what you do? I mean, for me, its not like waking up and going to the beach but I like working for Ontrac, delivering packages. I like being out in the sunshine every day, I like that I get to walk around a bit and get some excercize and yet can still drive around listening to music while I work on a strategy to get all the packages delivered the fastest way possible. There's a certain amount of challenge to it all that I enjoy too. So yes, its not sailing but its a good job and I like doing it. And if I went sailing EVERY day, that would probably get boring. I hope you like what you do too!

Feel free to send me a message if you would like to share or if you like what you do too - or if you don't and would like to work on changing something.

Daily Thoughts

3-28-13

Really great song. I was listening to this while I was at work and I started humming along with it and listening to the words. A few lyrics resinated with me: "When someone is as cold as ice, you can't try to change them with advice." and "I'm learning to be the light...

Tonight at our marriage group get together, I re-recognized the power of hate that we come to face at some time in our life and how it effects us for life. The way we react to it is often the way we react to it each time we come to face it again. If we could see behind the curtain and see how much hate the devil has for us and God it would astound us. The Bible calls the devil a murderer and the father of lies. Perhaps if we could realize where the true source of the hate really came from, we may be able to forgive the person who allowed it to flow through them to us. Maybe we can also see how we have been the ones to allow that same hate to flow through us to someone else and ask God to forgive us too. All these thoughts went through my head tonight!
